The outpouring of love that our families have received in the past week is overwhelming. We had over 40 companies and individual donors who adopted our families in order to ensure they were taken care of this holiday season. Joy, laughter and love are three words that simply describe how we felt seeing the support for our families. From all of our at Angels’ Arms, including our families, staff and board members, we wish you a happy holidays.[ngg src=”galleries” ids=”10″ display=”basic_thumbnail” thumbnail_crop=”0″]

Last week, Bess and Cat took one of our youth, Faith, to meet with MOHELA (Missouri Higher Education Loans Association) to discuss how she may go about furthering her education. Faith talked about some barriers that have hindered her from dedicating as much time as she should be to her studies; her car payment itself was causing her to work multiple jobs, which takes away time that could be used completing homework. To our amazement, MOHELA said they could pay off the rest of her car payments! This caused the tears to flow. “Do you realize this is changing my entire life?!” exclaimed Faith. She will now be able to forgo one of her multiple jobs in order to focus more on her studies.
But the good news didn’t stop there.
They asked what else some of our college-aged youth needed that they could help with. Cat mentioned that one of our other youth, Josh, was in a rent predicament; the person he was splitting rent with moved out suddenly and he couldn’t afford to pay double. MOHELA, without hesitation, said they were more than willing to help pay half of Josh’s rent for the next seven months! Our jaws hit the floor.
MOHELA has a fund set aside in order to give back to the community. The truly are changing the lives of our youth one step at a time. We now have a great partnership with them, and they are willing to help with other school-related needs of the youth who are seeking to further their education. We cannot thank them enough for their support!
Thank you to all the attendees, sponsors, volunteers and donors who made the 19th Annual Stepping Out for the Angels auction the most successful to date! Over 500 guests filled the River City Casino & Hotel and enjoyed an evening of gourmet eats, festive cocktails, gorgeous and fun Moulin Rouge decor, a plethora of silent and live auction items, live French entertainment and a moving presentation by our Angels’ Arms youth! All of the Angels’ Arms house parents were in attendance and received a touching standing ovation. Special thanks to our emcee Heidi Glaus for joining us, and kudos to Event Chairman Tom Hartnagel for pulling off another magnificent event for the 19th year in a row! The Spirit of St. Louis Women’s Fund interviewed our Founder and Executive Director as a part of their Grantee Profiles. We are so grateful they continually support our Life Launch program, which helps the youth ages 14-21 living in our homes. We appreciate this group’s desire to know more about what we do and how their contributions directly impact Angels’ Arms.

We had such an amazing time on Saturday at our 14th Annual Soulard Bar Bounce! There were over 1,000 bouncers on over 70 different teams with each team having a different shirt color! Thank you all for coming out and helping to raise OVER $52,000 for the foster children living in Angels’ Arms homes. St. Louis is an amazing community! We couldn’t have done it without our sponsors, bouncers, Junior Board, bars and the wonderful Soulard community. If you have any more pictures you’d like to share with us please email them to email@example.com.[ngg src=”galleries” ids=”7″ display=”basic_thumbnail” thumbnail_crop=”0″]The winners of our Bar Bounce raffle have been drawn!!
Hello all you wonderful Bar Bouncers; there are over 900 of YOU!! Wow, there’s going to be a lot of people bouncing around Soulard on October 5th. Before the fun begins, there are a few steps of preparation.
- Read the Bar Bounce 2019 FAQs and make sure all of your team members have read and signed the Bar Bounce Waiver 2019
- Make sure your team captain knows they have to pick up your packet (including t-shirts, route, etc.) from Great Grizzly Bear on Wednesday (10/2) or Thursday (10/3) from 5 to 8 P.M.
- These are the ONLY days and time slots you will be able to pick up your teams t-shirts and packet. Packets and t-shirts will NOT be available on the day of the Bar Bounce. No exceptions!
- On the day of the event, go straight to the first bar on your route. Sometimes, it helps to meet your group before and all come together.
